Love this article Lynn and I so agree with you about people defining what love is to them. As Dorine said describing love as a verb rather than a noun is perfect. I am going to check myself on this now, what a great exercise! I am also passing this on to my daughter and her boyfriend. I remember when I was younger, that I never felt comfortable about opening up and speaking my true feelings, not anymore …lol

Lynn, you always put so many great points in your articles. I hardly know where to start! I think the most telling point here is that love must be interpreted as a verb rather than a noun, if we want to know what it really means. It’s an active process of how you treat yourself and your partner and how you interact, not just a passive feeling or receiving, which is so often the way it’s thought of. Thank you for the brilliant reminder of what the real thing is all about.

Thanks Lynn! I especially resonate with “So we sacrifice what we want for whatever convenient reason we can come up with in order to ‘feel’ more deserving, but we still don’t get what we want.” I definitely have experienced the self-sacrifice trap and know from experience that it does not serve me or anyone else. I also appreciate what you said about women being fearful of playing big and allowing themselves to fully stand in their power. Darn socialization!
